Sunset over the Alps

Here is another travel escape image from many, many years ago. When I was a teen, I went on an extreme expedition. It entailed climbing the Alps, sleeping one night in a ‘rat-infested’ cabin, down in a harrowing mountain cave, narrowly missing an avalanche, among other things – but it was the most life-changing wonderful experience that I look back on!

On my first night after being dropped off by a taxi, I spent it sitting in a park and crying because I was utterly lost, and there was not a soul to be seen or even the flicker of light. When morning came, the remote village finally stirred awake, and I was able to find the base for this expedition. I was SO tired from being awake all night and the long journey before that, so when people asked my name, I yelled, “Isle of Man!” And from then on, for one month, I was known as the “Isle of Man.” Lol.

*But I’m eternally thankful for my mother, my inspiration, for sending me on such an adventure. I believe everyone should step out of their ‘comfort zone’ at some point in life. Before this trip, I was a nerdy little teenager, and after I knew that, you can do far more in life than what anyone might think possible as long as you never give up.
